About

Purpose

VINE Reputation was created to transparently track, recognize, and reward meaningful participation within the Grape DAO and its ecosystem.

Rather than acting as a traditional token, VINE functions as an on-chain reputation system that reflects community contribution over time.

Objective

VINE Reputation is designed to establish a fair, auditable, and season-based recognition framework for DAO participation.

By separating reputation from financial value and anchoring it directly on-chain, VINE ensures that:

  • Contributions are verifiable

  • Recognition is equitable

  • Governance participation remains transparent

The system empowers contributors while preserving flexibility for the DAO to evolve how participation is measured and rewarded.

Solution

Why VINE Reputation Exists

DAOs need a way to:

  • Measure participation beyond token balance

  • Reward ongoing involvement without long-term inflation

  • Preserve historical contribution data

  • Adapt contribution criteria over time

VINE addresses this by introducing season-based reputation, where each season represents a clean participation ledger.

How It Works

  • Each DAO has its own Reputation Space, derived from its governance ID

  • Reputation is tracked per user, per season

  • New seasons reset participation cleanly

  • Past seasons remain immutable and auditable

  • Reputation can be added, corrected, or transferred by authorized administrators

This design prevents reputation inflation while preserving historical context.

How & When Reputation Is Allocated

Reputation is typically allocated on a recurring basis (e.g. weekly or bi-weekly), based on predefined participation criteria such as:

  • DAO calls

  • Community contributions

  • Governance activity

Allocation logic is flexible and can evolve each season without affecting past records.

Metadata & Transparency

Each reputation space supports metadata (name, description, icon, links) stored off-chain and cryptographically referenced on-chain, ensuring both flexibility and integrity.

All reputation actions are fully on-chain and publicly verifiable.

Points of Attention

  • VINE Reputation is non-financial and separate from governance tokens

  • Administrative actions are permissioned but auditable

  • The system supports automation and bulk imports (e.g. CSV-based backfills)

  • Designed for scalability across multiple DAOs or working groups
